On Aug. 20th, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America explores the subject of immigration. Join PRSA-OKC at Nonna's in Bricktown from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an opportunity to hear Pat Fennell, President, CEO and founder of the Latino Community Development Agency. CEOs and Executive Directors recognize how vitally important it is that their companies and organizations build and maintain relationships with all cultural, ethnic, racial, religious and political segments of their communities. As public relations practitioners, we must be able to communicate effectively with these various audiences. Fennell will also discuss public relations efforts made to combat the misperceptions surrounding this issue. Fennell will present facts about the immigration issue and help dispel some of the inaccurate perceptions generated by Oklahoma's immigration bill as well as the impact it has had on our respective communities. | ||||||||||||

Oklahoma City voters took to the polls on March 4 and overwhelmingly approved a $121.6 million temporary one-cent sales tax to fund major upgrades to the Ford Center and an off-site practice facility for an NBA franchise. Learn the strategies and tactics implemented by both the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce and the City of Oklahoma City to educate voters and pass the temporary sales tax. Christine Berney is the Public Relations Manager for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. She is a graduate of Oregon State University (BA) and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (MFA).
